Karen Leube<\/p>\n

Karen Leube, a native of Pennsylvania, is a freelance translator and translator trainer based in Aachen, Germany. She served on the faculty of the universities of Heidelberg and Mainz (FTSK), where she offered courses on biomedical technology and general medical translation in cooperation with local hospitals and research institutions. Since establishing her freelance business in 2004, she has taught numerous continuing education courses for translators and interpreters. Twelve of her book translations have been published to date, including Thomas H\u00e4usler\u2019s Gesund durch Viren (Viruses vs. Superbugs).
\nKaren founded and coordinated ATA’s GLD Members in Europe group from 2009 to 2019 and served as the GLD’s Assistant Administrator for two years prior to assuming the position as Administrator in 2022.<\/p>\n

Robin Limmeroth<\/p>\n

Robin Limmeroth is a freelance German>English translator, transcreator, and proofreader with 25 years of translation experience in various sectors. After graduating from Millersville University in 1990, she worked for Infratest Burke Marketingforschung and Mainz University of Applied Sciences, among others. Based in Mainz, Germany, she provides language services to a number of market and marketing research companies, advertising agencies, universities, publishers, and other direct clients.<\/p>\n

Robin is the Assistant Administrator of the GLD and part of the GLD in Europe team. She also served as Web Manager from 2020-2023.<\/p>\n

Sabine Seiler<\/p>\n

Sabine H. Seiler is a self-employed German<>English translator, editor, and transcreator with 30 years of translation experience in various fields. She earned her PhD in English at UAlbany where she also taught in the undergraduate English program. Based in Niskayuna, NY, she provides translation and editing services to publishers, independent authors, and businesses in the US and Europe. She has also given presentations and seminars at several ATA and other translator conferences. In addition, Sabine is a certified tai chi instructor, and the translation process from verbal instructions to correct, intricate, and subtle physical movements is one of her research interests.<\/p>\n

Since 2020 Sabine has been active in the GLD as copyeditor for interaktiv<\/em> and currently serves as the newsletter\u2019s editor-in-chief.<\/p>\n

Rainer Klett is an ATA-certified English>German translator with an M.A. in Art History and English (Amerikanistik<\/em>) from the University of T\u00fcbingen (Germany), which is also his hometown. After moving to Philadelphia in 1997 and spending several years working in various museums, he wanted to live in a more moderate climate with more opportunities to pursue his love for the outdoors. Rainer now lives in Seattle, where he works as a freelance translator, interpreter, and voice-talent specializing in art history, tourism, corporate communication, and marketing, including audio-visual projects. In his spare time, Rainer can often be found exploring the many hiking trails in the Pacific Northwest (which reminds him of the Black Forest in the old Heimat<\/em>), usually carrying his camera and admiring the wildlife around him. Megan Falk is a German to English translator based in Cologne, Germany. She recently graduated from UW-Milwaukee with an MA in Translation and opened a freelance translation business. She specializes in translating old German script (Kurrentschrift<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0S\u00fctterlin<\/em>), historical documents, and textbooks. In her free time, Megan enjoys spending time outdoors, reading, writing, traveling, and cooking. She is currently learning Spanish and ASL and plans to continue learning additional languages.<\/p>\n

Their first taste of translation came from working with song texts by their favorite German bands, and their passion for the craft grew from there. Jen is currently pursuing a BA in German Language & Literature at Portland State University with plans to earn a graduate degree in Translation & Interpretation. Their specialties include literature, songs and poetry, and medical translation. Randal Gernaat is a New York City-based German-to-English freelance translator. <\/span>Before becoming a translator, he worked in international economics and finance for nearly 20 years, most recently for the financial services firm, Bloomberg. His past roles have included everything from research and analysis to product development and business management. Randal holds a master\u2019s degree in international economics from Columbia University. He also studied German at the University of Vienna, Austria, where he was also able to immerse himself in two of his passions: classical music and playing the piano. In his spare time, Randal enjoys German crime novels, adventure travel and vegetarian cooking with produce from local farmers\u2019 markets.<\/span><\/p>\n

Andrew Hudson<\/p>\n

Dr. Andrew Hudson was born in Nashville and grew up in Southwest Virginia, where his father\u2019s family had lived for seven generations.<\/p>\n

After earning a doctorate in piano performance from the University of Texas, Andrew taught on the music faculties of several Central Texas colleges for 25 years. In 2013 he left music as a career to pursue his lifelong love of the German language, became a translator, and has never looked back. He counts the day he became an ATA-certified translator as one of the proudest in his life. He specializes in contracts and academic writing.<\/p>\n

His wife Sara teaches middle-school English and is the love of his life. They live in Waco, Texas with their cat Ruby, the queen of the universe. Andy and Sara enjoy travelling, restaurants, coffee shops, cocktail bars, jazz clubs, and making new friends everywhere they go.<\/p>\n

Ellen Yutzy Glebe<\/p>\n

Born and raised in western North Carolina, Ellen Yutzy Glebe\u2019s life path has taken her far from the Appalachian mountains she still considers home. Luckily for her, she\u2019s found a second home near the geographic center of Germany, namely the city of Kassel, where she works as a freelance translator and editor specializing in academic texts and historical scholarship. Ellen has a BA in German and history from Guilford College and a PhD in early modern European history from the University of California-Berkeley, and she is actively cultivating a professional network of translators with similar backgrounds and interest in academic texts and the humanities. She took over coordination of the ATA\u2019s GLD Members in Europe group in 2019.<\/p>\n

A Pennsylvania native, Kristina Cosumano studied music at Carnegie-Mellon University and the Eastman School of Music. After a long and fulfilling career as an opera and musical singer in Austria, she relocated to southern Germany and embarked on a second career as an ATA-certified translator for German into English. She is currently serving as the GLD\u2019s New Member Coordinator, her first leadership role with ATA. In addition to her full-time translation work, Kristina has provided interpreting services for trade shows and voiceover services for businesses.<\/p>\n

Ruth Boggs<\/p>\n

Ruth Boggs is an ATA-certified English <> German translator. She holds an M.A. in English (Professional Writing and Editing) from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. After completing an assignment to the German Embassy in Washington, D.C., she decided to put down roots in Fairfax and become a freelance translator and interpreter, taught ESL there for 13 years, and worked as a White House volunteer. As a contract interpreter for the German government and the U.S. Department of State, she\u2019s traveled to all but five of the 50 United States. Her professional memoir, if she ever decides to write it, is tentatively titled \u201cFrom the Whorehouse to the White House\u201d because she\u2019s covered it all in the line of duty.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Tina Siegel is an in-house English\u2194German translator and SEO (Search Engine Optimization) specialist at TE Connectivity, a global leader in connectivity and sensor solutions. As German Language Lead within TE\u2019s global localization and SEO team, Tina manages the translation and localization of complex website and digital content from the company\u2019s diverse business units \u2014 including medical, industrial, aerospace and defense, and automotive \u2014 ensuring linguistic precision, consistency, and optimized global reach. She collaborates closely with fellow translators responsible for the company\u2019s French, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, and Japanese web presences, bridging language, technology, and marketing to support TE\u2019s international communication strategy.<\/p>\n

A native of Bavaria, Germany, Tina has lived in the United States for more than 17 years. She holds a degree in translation and interpretation for English and Spanish from W\u00fcrzburger Dolmetscherschule, a federally recognized college for foreign-language professions.<\/p>\n

Before joining TE Connectivity, Tina worked part-time as a freelance German\u2194English translator, specializing in translation, proofreading, and transcription projects\u2014including the translation of historical documents written in old German scripts such as Fraktur and S\u00fctterlin. Alongside her freelance work, she held a leadership position in the commercial and residential property management sector, where she gained extensive experience managing affordable housing and overseeing day-to-day operations.<\/p>\n

In addition to her professional work, Tina volunteers as a tutor for Lern-Fair e.V., a nonprofit organization providing free educational support to disadvantaged students and adults in Germany.<\/p>\n

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and seven cats, magnet fishing, and exploring historic sites.<\/p>\n
