No, the sixth annual GLD Members in Europe Workshop is a unique opportunity for members to come together on the old continent, talk shop, take in the sights and, yes, toss back\u2026a cup of coffee or two.<\/p>\n<p>This year we\u2019re meeting in the lovingly restored medieval Swabian university town of T\u00fcbingen, which \u2013 in addition to many adjectives \u2013 offers a unique and vibrant atmosphere on the banks of the Neckar River. The perfect place to stretch the workshop beyond one day for the very first time.<\/p>\n<p>Details below. Anna has a translation degree from the University of Innsbruck and is a researcher and instructor at the University of Osnabr\u00fcck\u2019s English Department. She will lead a hands-one workshop covering corpus-guided translation. If you have ever wondered how to verify whether native speakers \u201creally\u201d use certain expressions or which preposition is the preferred one in a certain collocation, this workshop will show you how. Anna will use practical exercises to introduce us to various corpus-building and -evaluation tools, so be sure to bring your laptop!<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Pre-dinner Pilates\/Stretching<\/h2>\n<p>Translator\/interpreter, fitness expert and former GLD Administrator, Eva Stabenow, is offering a stretching\/Pilates\/movement session at 5:15pm on Saturday. Eva takes the pre-dawn ATA conference offering to a twilight slot as a pre-dinner option for lengthening muscles and clearing your mind. Guests are welcome on the tour and at dinner.<\/p>\n<h3>Saturday<\/h3>\n<p>Lunch on Saturday will be at the Neckarm\u00fcller Brauereirestaurant. Places will be reserved for all workshop attendees.<\/p>\n<p>In the evening we\u2019ll meet for a networking dinner at LTT Lokal, where a menu full of Mediterranean delights awaits us. The dinner is reserved for workshop attendees only.<\/p>\n<h3>Sunday<\/h3>\n<p>Lunch after the Sunday sessions will be a free for all as everyone goes their separate ways. She served on the faculty of the universities of Heidelberg and Mainz (FTSK), where she offered courses on biomedical technology and general medical translation in cooperation with local hospitals and research institutions. Since establishing her freelance business in 2004, she has taught numerous continuing education courses for translators and interpreters. Twelve of her book translations have been published to date, including Thomas H\u00e4usler\u2019s Gesund durch Viren (Viruses vs. Superbugs).
