On our third installment of “PLD Shop Talk,” Assistant Administrator Érika Lessa interviewed Helen Campbell, former staff member of the Directorate-General for Interpretation of the European Commission in Brussels and current Director of the National Network for Interpreting of the UK program “Routes into Languages.” Helen is also an interpreter trainer at the Master of Conference Interpreting program offered by the School of Translation at Glendon – York University in Toronto, Canada.

ÉRIKA LESSA is a conference interpreter who also loves translating, and truly believes one complements the other. She has worked in different sectors of the industry, including humanities, marketing, software and game localization. As an interpreter, she is proud to have worked at international events such as Rio +20 and Bill Clinton’s visit to her hometown, Belém. She now lives in Toronto, where she completed a Master’s program in Conference Interpreting at York University. After hearing at the 2014 PLD annual meeting that they wanted help, she decided to share some of her time and talents to help strengthen the Division, and has been elected Assistant Administrator for the 2015-2017 administration.
