We’re about 15 days away from the 57th American Translators Association Annual Conference in San Francisco and it’s time to go through the checklist to make sure we’re ready for the biggest international translation and interpretation event of the year!
(X) Registration
You have missed the early bird special and the standard registration period, but do not despair! There’s still time to sign up for the late registration. Click here and make sure you’ll be part of #ATA57.
(X) ATA app
Have you downloaded the ATA app yet? If you’ve already registered, keep an eye out for the email that the ATA sends out with your username and password. The app will help you organize your schedule during the conference, so you can mark the sessions you want to attend, check out what’s going on at the exhibit hall, and look up information on other attendees and network with potential clients and colleagues. By the way, make sure you fill out your own profile, so other attendees can learn more about you! Click here for more info on the app.
(X) PLD Party
Our division will have a get-together at the ThirstyBear Brewing Co. on Thursday, November 3rd at 7 p.m. We’ll be enjoying a tapas buffet and a beer tasting session with an expert, but there’ll also be a cash bar available for you to order your favorite drinks. Click here to guarantee your spot.
(X) PLD Guest Speaker
We’ll have two sessions with Daniel Hahn, award-winning book translator from Portuguese, Spanish, and French to English. He’ll be talking about “Being a Translator: The Rise of a Powerful New Professional” (Saturday, November 5 at 8:30) and “Literary Translation in Action: A Close Reading” (Saturday, November 5 at 10). Click here to read more about our guest speaker.
(X) PLD Hashtag
During the conference, use #pldata57 whenever you share pictures and comments on the social media, so we can all keep tabs on what other PLD members are doing and how they’re enjoying the event.
IMPORTANT:
Keep in mind that NO sessions will be recorded this year!
So, if you’re planning on exploring the city during event hours,
you unfortunately won’t be able to listen to recordings later…
You’ve been warned!
Or, as Corinne McKay, ATA President, put it:
WE LOOK FORWARD
TO SEEING YOU
IN SAN FRANCISCO!
