PLD at the APTRAD 2nd International Conference – Drinking in the Wonders of Porto

The Portuguese Association of Translators and Interpreters has just signed off on its second international conference in beautiful Porto. Local fellow PLD member Julia Pedro (who we have previously profiled here) was kind enough to set up a little get-together at Casa da Música, a gorgeous gem of a concert venue/restaurant/café/and-then-some right by the conference hotel. We talked shop and enjoyed some 100%-approved local pastry deliciousness.

On the agenda were comments on the city, life in Portugal and the importance of strong associations (all three unanimously well-rated, we’re happy to report). APTRAD itself is a very young association, created in 2015, but it’s already doing a lot for its members and the public in general and flexing its muscles on several fronts, which we all applaud.

Another interesting topic was the internationality of the ATA, which many don’t realize. Don’t let the ‘American’ in the name fool you. We’re talking over 100 countries here! The more people know about it, the better.
