We are four months away from ATA60, and the association and its divisions are working nonstop to make sure you have a fabulous time in Palm Springs.
Every year, fellow dedicated language professionals volunteer as conference speakers to share their experience and expertise. They are working translators and interpreters, educators, attorneys, physicians, CEOs, and managers, and they are selected through a competitive peer-review process.
Among the speakers, are a select group of Distinguished Speakers. Chosen by ATA leadership, they contribute a high level of advanced learning, experience, and excellence.
This year’s Distinguished Speaker invited by the Portuguese Language Division is Ewandro Magalhães.
Ewandro is the former Chief Interpreter of a United Nations agency in Geneva. He is the author of Sua Majestade, o Intérprete. He is also a speaker, and his TED Lessons have been viewed over a million times (watch them here and here). Ewandro is also a mentor and career coach for interpreters.
Ewandro is currently the VP of Marketing & Communications at KUDO, a cloud-based interpretation-delivery platform. He holds a Master’s Degree in Conference Interpretation from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey (MIIS). His working languages are English, Spanish and French, in addition to his native Portuguese.
I am honored to have been chosen as the Distinguished Speaker of the Portuguese Language Division for the second time. Join me for an exploration of the history of our profession in Palm Springs.
