Name: Patricia Leitão Worsley
Where you live: Olive Branch, Mississippi
Email: patricia.worsley@gmail.com
What you’re doing these days: In addition to working as a freelance translator, I am currently working as a music translation supervisor.
Something you’re proud of: My three awesome children and finishing my master’s degree in Translation and Interpretation at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
How long have you been with ATA? And PLD member? Approximately four years.
What did the ATA membership ATA and/or the PLD bring to you? My ATA membership (my PLD membership included) has introduced me to a network of amazing professionals and opportunities to grow and stay up to date in my career.
Current project (or last/future interesting project/activities): I am currently supervising the translation of songs from English into Brazilian Portuguese, Xhosa, and Zulu.
A major challenge(s) in your career: A major challenge for me in the beginning was trying to find my place/specialization. Now, my biggest challenge is to grow my clientele, making sure that I leave time to find and work with other clients instead of always dedicating all my time to a single or just a couple of clients.
Do you have a hobby? I enjoy reading, sewing, and bike riding.
What is your favorite book in Portuguese Language literature? My favorite author is Machado de Assis, with Dom Casmurro and Memórias Póstumas de Brás Cubas being my favorite books.
Currently on your reading list: Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens and The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexander Dumas.
Thank you.
We really appreciate the opportunity to learn a little more about you.
