Name: Tatiane (Tati) Bertoni
Where you live: I live with my husband and two kids in Marston Moretaine, an English village in Bedfordshire (UK).
Email: tatibertoni@gmail.com
What you’re doing these days: Working on translations. Catching up with new technologies, especially AI and how to leverage translations with AI.
Something you’re proud of: As an Italian citizen with Brazilian roots residing in England, and having acquired British citizenship through naturalization, I see it as a significant legacy to offer my children. This journey opens a multitude of doors for them, presenting abundant opportunities and enriching experiences. I’m really proud of that!
A bit of your background: I have a B.A. degree in translation and interpreting, and a postgraduate diploma in English language from Universidade de Franca (UNIFRAN) in Brazil. Back in 2015 I completed an MSc. in scientific, technical and medical translation with translation technology from University College London (UCL), and the following year I passed the exam from the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI), becoming a chartered translator in the UK. That was a big change in my career as a translator, once I was able to launch my business offering certified translations alongside having a corporate career as an executive assistant. Recently, I finished a Master of Business Administration in project management from Universidade de São Paulo (USP/Esalq), enhancing my business management skills. I am a full member of the ITI, and also the Project Management Institute (PMI).
How long have you been with ATA and PLD? I may be one of the newest members, as I recently joined ATA last November (2023), and the PLD just a month later.
What did ATA membership and/or the PLD bring to you? Becoming part of a community that promotes our profession is my main motivation. Opportunities for increased visibility, networking, and collaboration represent the most appealing advantages of both ATA and PLD!
Current project (or last/future interesting project/activities): I’m currently immersing myself in the realm of digital marketing, learning strategies to boost my online visibility and effectively promote my translation services in the UK and the US markets, as a consequence of a career change from the corporate sphere.
A major challenge(s) in your career: Standing out from the crowd. In a tech-savvy world with so much information available, grabbing attention and attracting clients is more than just challenging.
Do you have any hobbies? If so, what are they? My hobbies are travelling, baking cakes, and dining out. I love spending time with my husband in a good restaurant with a beautiful view, enjoying live music and a bottle of wine.
What is your favorite book in Portuguese-language literature? That’s a tricky one. I’m not into classic literature, and I remember having to read a few classics back at university as part of the course syllabus. However, I enjoy reading everything about personal development, career progression, or mindset growth.
What books are currently on your reading list? The Whole-Brain Child by Daniel J. Siegel and Tina Payne Bryson.
Where is the best place to connect with you? You can find me on ProZ, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook. It’ll be a pleasure to connect!
