Behind the Scenes: How Conference Interpreters Bring Award Ceremonies to Life
20 March 2025, 18:00 EDT (via Zoom)
Have you ever wondered how the biggest award ceremonies in the world are translated into multiple languages live? Then join us for a vibrant roundtable discussion exploring the vital role of conference interpreting in prestigious international award ceremonies and global events, such as the Academy Awards, the Grammys and the Emmys, the Global Citizen Festival and interviews with Champions League stars. While celebrating artistic and athletic excellence, these events also showcase the complexities and nuances of communication across diverse cultures and languages to ensure that every moment—from heartfelt acceptance speeches to spontaneous exchanges on stage—is accessible to a global audience. Our panel will discuss how the techniques, best practices and strategies used in these high-stakes environments can be applied to traditional conference interpreting to fulfill our mission of not only conveying words but also capturing and expressing emotions, cultural references, and the essence of each message.
This event will be conducted in Portuguese and is for PLD members only.
