January 2022

A happy, healthy and successful 2022 from the S&TD Leadership Council! We wish you all a year filled with great clients, fun projects, and new opportunities to grow. One thing we especially hope for this year is a fully in-person ATA conference in October where we can all meet each other again without restrictions.

Welcome to our new Blog Co-Editor

We are excited to introduce a new addition to the Leadership Council: Kenneth McKerrow. Kenneth is an ATA-certified German into English translator located in Toronto, Canada. He specializes in business and legal translations, patents, and marketing materials for technical companies. Kenneth and Pavitra Baxi are teaming up as our division’s blog co-editors and can be reached at scitechblogeditor@gmail.com. You can meet all members of our Leadership Council by visiting About Us > Leadership Council.

Share your expertise

Speaking of blogs, our blog editors have created a Style Guide for blog articles. This Blog Article Style Guide can be found under the Blog tab. We encourage all our members to write about a topic of their interest related to science, technology and/or translation. A call for blog articles with more details will go out soon, so stay tuned. We are looking forward to receiving and publishing great content this year.

Another way to share your expertise is to present at an ATA conference. The Call for Speakers for the 63th Annual Conference in Los Angeles has just opened and proposals will be due in less than two months, so start thinking about proposal topics now. Feel free to contact us at divisionS_TD@atanet.org with your questions or ideas. To help you get started, ATA President Madalena Sánchez Zampaulo and ATA President-Elect Veronika Demichelis have created an excellent webinar on how to submit a successful ATA conference proposal. Watch it for free at https://www.atanet.org/event/how-to-submit-a-successful-ata-annual-conference-proposal/.

Stay connected!

We encourage all division members to join our email discussion group and social media groups. This is a great opportunity to ask questions, stay up to date on division news, and network with your fellow Science & Technology Division members. Visit the Membership tab to find more information and links to sign up.

Not an S&TD member yet? Membership of the Science and Technology Division is open to all members of the American Translators Association in good standing. To join, log in to the ATA website, go to How to Join a Division and follow the instructions.
