GLD Digital Events update
This summer, I attended my first book club, where we met over five weeks to read and work through the book “The One Thing – The Surprisingly Simple Truth About Extraordinary Results.” The organizer was well-prepared and kept the sharing and discussions among the six attendees focused and relatable. It was an enriching and productive experience while busting some myths. The following are my three most significant takeaways:
- Focus on the most impactful tasks (the 80/20 rule) rather than trying to do everything. I can learn by asking the right question (the book shows how).
- Don’t be a disciplined person. Be a person of powerful habits and use selected discipline to develop them (one at a time).
- Balanced Life? True balance is unrealistic; instead, focus on what’s most important at any given time.
If you want to know more, read the book … or join us for our next GLD Social event on August 23, where we catch up with colleagues and GLD friends while kicking off the socializing by sharing a great book each one read recently. Please find more details about the event and join us by RSVPing here.
We also decided to continue our monthly Co-Working events, as we received great feedback on this more or less well-attended monthly event.
“The event is focused yet provides flexibility to choose what specifically needs to be done.” —with working on your business vs. in your business.
“It provides accountability.” —We set a small goal in the beginning, get to work silently for 75 minutes, and then each attendee reports back about the result.
“Finally, I got it done!” —Take the first step or get something done for your business.
The monthly Co-Working event will be on the third Thursday of the month at noon EST. The next event is on August 15. Two days before the event, the Zoom link will be posted to the GLD list. (Find more details and register here.)
Here is a heads-up on the Q4 events:
In September, we hold the GLD Annual Meeting (TBA by ATA headquarters).
If you would like to practice your ATA speaker presentation (or a shorter version of it) before the ATA conference, please contact us ASAP at gld.digitalevents@gmail.com, and we can coordinate a GLD webinar event in September or October for you.
On November 15 at 1 pm EST, we’ll hold the yearly ATA Conference Recap and GLD Social event.
