Fun blog about coast-to-coast train trip

Italian star columnist Beppe Severgnini (of Corriere della Sera) traveled in June with German journalist Karl Hoffmann (ARD’s correspondent in Italy) on a trans-American train ride from Portland, Maine to Portland, Oregon. The two journalists and a team of facilitators and translators recorded the journey in an entertaining blog: https://blog.goethe.de/Atlantico-Pacifico/index.php?user_language=en

Beppe is one of the Italian Language Division’s Distinguished Speakers at this year’s ATA Annual Conference in San Diego.

Italy-based translator Giles Watson – the ILD’s other Distinguished Speaker – translated Beppe’s blog into English, while Hoffmann wrote the German blog.

The journey is an initiative of Va bene?! La Germania in italiano – Italien auf deutsch, a project which involves journalists, cartoonists and columnists from Germany and Italy with a view to break down mutual prejudices, encourage curiosity and the desire to explore the other.

If you’re like me and love to travel, then you’ll really enjoy reading about Karl, Beppe and their companions.

Enjoy!
