At the Annual Meeting of All Members of ATA’s German Language Division, Administrator Karen Leube announced her appointment of two new consultants to the Leadership Council. In today’s post, we introduce you to our other new consultant, Andrew Belisle.
Name: Andrew Belisle
LC position: Consultant
Where are you originally from? Spokane, Washington, USA
Where do you currently live? Spokane, Washington, USA
How did you become a translator/interpreter?
As part of my undergraduate degree, I studied at the Facultad de Traducción e Interpretación at the University of Granada and the Zentrum für Translationswissenschaft at the University of Vienna. I fell in love with the profession, and later completed an MA in Conference Interpretation at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies.
What are your areas of specialization?
What do you like about ATA?
I enjoy the networking opportunities to connect with and learn from other colleagues.
Tell us about your position on the GLD Leadership Council.
As a student member, I’m new to the ATA. I’m looking forward to learning from veteran members in the GLD LC and perhaps contributing my own perspective as someone more recently arrived to the profession.
Anything else you would like to share? (hobbies, interests, etc.)
I’m a knitter, CrossFitter, and enjoy reading about the politics and history of the Middle East. I love cooking Korean food and learning about obscure languages (Faroese, anyone?).
